Fort Simpson is a small community located in the Northwest Territories of Canada. It is situated on an island at the confluence of the Mackenzie and Liard rivers, near the border with the Yukon. The town has a population of just over 1000 people, and is the administrative centre of the Dehcho First Nations. The climate of Fort Simpson is classified as subarctic, and is very cold in the winter months. Summers are short, but can be quite warm.
