Yavapai County is located in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Arizona. It is bordered by Maricopa County to the south, Coconino County to the north, Gila County to the east, and Yuma County, California and La Paz County, Arizona to the west. Yavapai County is home to the cities of Prescott, Sedona, and Cottonwood. The climate in Yavapai County is hot, dry and sunny for most of the year. Summers are generally hot, with average highs in the mid to upper 90s (Fahrenheit). Winters are mild, with average temperatures in the mid 40s to upper 50s (Fahrenheit). Precipitation is limited, with most of it falling in the winter months. Snowfall is rare, with only a few inches of accumulation each year.
