Chesapeake is a city in the U.S. state of Virginia, located just south of the independent city of Norfolk. It is the third-largest city in the Hampton Roads metropolitan area, and the most populous city in South Hampton Roads. The climate of Chesapeake is humid subtropical with four distinct seasons. Summers are typically hot and humid with temperatures in the 80s and 90s and occasional high temperatures in the 100s. Winters are mild with temperatures in the 30s and 40s and the occasional cold snap. Spring and autumn are mild and pleasant, with temperatures ranging from the 50s to the 70s. Precipitation is evenly distributed throughout the year with the wettest months being July and August.
